In the month of May, 1990, our Golf Club opened its 27-hole course to the public. In December of the same year, it opened its club house with its first members and the Count of Barcelona as guests. The opening of our club in this area, which had not yet been developed as a tourist destination, was a risky project. Nevertheless, those responsible - Neckermann among others - had already foreseen the potential of our coast. In 1991, with the celebration of the EXPO'92 in Seville near, the first hotel was opened: Iberostar Royal Andalus (back then called Royal Andalus Golf).
No one could imagine the development that has taken place in just a few years. Since then, our golf club has changed considerably. The opening of our golf school in '97, the créche and children's club in '98, and the expansion to 9 more holes in 2001 have been some of our most remarkable improvements. Since 2005, the course has undergone very relevant improvements. The Driving Range has also been enlarged, endowing our golf school with its own practice area. With its renewal, it now also has a chipping area with a bunker, a pitching & putting area, putting greens and 3 par-3 holes. Thus we can say we have some of the best practice facilities in southern Spain, where up to 130 players can practice at one time.
In 2006, the contract to take over Campano-San Andrés Golf Club was signed, thus having a new 9-hole course which was expanded to an 18-hole one in November, 2007. Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club continues to grow. Since March 2007, 9 additional holes are now available at Campano Golf Club, located just a few minutes away from Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club. This 9-hole course was expanded to an 18-hole one following the layout by Bryan Griffiths. It has also been renovated and updated. Hence, we are happy to say that additional grounds for golf playing are now available in our Costa de la Luz.
Our new club house offers every service such as reception, caddie master and pro shop, as well as a restaurant and café with a terrace. There is a shuttle service available between our two club houses. Thus, Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club, with its 54 holes, is one of the largest golf resorts in Spain, and is continuously reinforcing its leadership in the area.
