Meet Irene Villena

With her family she began a new life in Chiclana de la Frontera. This change posed many challenges for Irene – she had to learn a new language, become accustomed to a different culture and make new friends - it wasn´t easy, but after many ups and downs, she decided to focus on her studies and further her career in Spain. In 2005 she completed her studies at the University of Jerez, where she graduated in Tourism.

The first contact she had with golf was in 2004 when she did her university internship as a receptionist in the Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club. Dealing with people of different nationalities with a passion for golf was an interesting and rewarding experience.

Once she had completed her university studies she began to make inroads in the workplace. Her german language proficiency opened many doors for her in the tourism sector. Her first job after graduation was with the car rental company Europcar, where she worked for one full season. In 2006 she first started working for the golf academy at Novo Sancti Petri on a temporary basis. She then spent two seasons working for two different car rental companies, Goldcar and Europcar. In 2009 she returned to join the golf academy at Novo Sancti Petri in capacity of Public Relations Manager, where she hopes to continue for many years. Irene speaks fluent German and Spanish and English.
